96 hours of doom in Delhi, get permission to work from home right now, IMD issues orange alert

New Delhi. Heat wreaked havoc in the country’s capital Delhi and surrounding areas. The situation had become such that people had stopped leaving their homes unnecessarily. The hot winds had made life difficult. On top of that, power cuts and water crisis had further aggravated the problem. The torrential rain that occurred early Friday morning drenched the residents of Delhi NCR.

The intensity of the rain can be gauged from the fact that its effect was seen from the airport to the road in Delhi and surrounding areas. Roads on many routes in Delhi became ponds. At the same time, a major accident also took place at IGI Airport. Now IMD has once again issued a forecast regarding rain in Delhi. Meteorologists have predicted heavy to very heavy rains for the next 4 days.

Heavy rain is expected in Delhi in the next two days. The Meteorological Department (IMD) gave this information on Saturday, a day after the monsoon arrived in the city with record-breaking rains of 88 years. IMD has issued an orange alert, forecasting heavy rain for the next 4 days. IMD said, ‘Moderate to heavy rain is expected in Delhi throughout the day, more heavy rain is expected on Sunday and Monday.’

Many areas of Delhi including Rohini and Burari received rain on Saturday morning. It rained at many places in Delhi around 3 pm also.The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rain with thunder for the next 7 days. According to IMD, rainfall between 7.6 to 35.5 mm in a day falls in the category of moderate rainfall and rainfall between 64.5 to 124.4 mm in a day is called heavy rainfall.

IMD said that the minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 28 degrees Celsius, while the humidity level was 80 percent. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded in the moderate category with 108.
