New Delhi. The Enforcement Directorate has sent summons to Aam Aadmi Party government minister Kailash Gehlot in the case of alleged money laundering related to excise policy. Gehlot is the Transport, Home and Law Minister in the Arvind Kejriwal government of Delhi.
He has reached the ED office for questioning. After Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the investigating agency in the same case on March 21, ED sent summons to Gehlot. ED had issued summons to Kailash Gehlot on Saturday itself and called him to join the interrogation.
Whereas Kailash Gehlot had said that he will appear before the ED today itself for questioning. Gehlot, MLA from Najafgarh, was part of the panel which had prepared the draft of the now repealed liquor policy. Sources said that Gehlot has been asked to appear for questioning in the case and record his statement under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
Kejriwal, arrested in the liquor policy case, is currently in ED custody till April 2. Earlier, a Delhi court had sent Kejriwal to ED custody till March 28, after which it was extended.Apart from CM Kejriwal, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, former minister Satyendra Jain and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh have been arrested in this case.
