In his last Test at the Oval, he scored a century against India. Alastair Cook said in a statement on the Essex website, “Today I am announcing the end of my career as a professional cricketer. I know saying goodbye is not easy.

But for more than two decades, cricket has been very important to me. I never dreamed that I would go into cricket, be a part of teams that have achieved many things.

The most important thing is that I have made deep friendships with many players which will last a lifetime.” Alastair Cook holds the record for scoring the most runs for England in the history of Test cricket.
