Hearing begins in High Court regarding ASI survey, arguments continue on both sides

Prayagraj. Today on Wednesday, the hearing has started in the Single Bench of Chief Justice Pritinkar Diwakar on the petition of the Muslim side related to the Gyanvapi Masjid dispute in the Allahabad High Court.

This petition has been filed on behalf of the arrangement committee of the mosque against the order of the District Judge of Varanasi to conduct a survey from the ASI.

A single bench of Chief Justice Pritinkar Diwakar is hearing the matter on the basis of urgency on the instructions of the Supreme Court. UP’s Advocate General Ajay Mishra is present in the court on behalf of the state government.

Additional Solicitor General is also present in the court on behalf of the Central Government. Although the Central and State Governments are not parties, but due to the sensitivity of the matter, the advocates of the Center and the State are present.

Hindu side’s lawyers Vishnu Shankar Jain, Saurabh Tiwari and Vijay Shankar Rastogi are present in the Chief Justice court room, while senior advocate Syed Farman Ahmed Naqvi is presenting the side from the Muslim side.

During the hearing, three objections were raised by the Muslim side. The Muslim side said that why did the ASI show such speed in this matter? Survey can damage the original form of Gyanvapi.

SC told the lower court whether the case is worth hearing or not? Going ahead, it was decided to conduct the survey.
