New Delhi: There is an uproar in the country regarding electoral bonds. The opposition is continuously raising questions on the government regarding this. Now, countering the opposition’s allegations, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has given a big statement.
Amit Shah asked the opposition whether the opposition parties would also call the donations received through electoral bonds as ‘extortion’.Let us tell you that in an interview, Rahul Gandhi had called electoral bonds as ‘the world’s biggest extortion scheme’.
Responding to the allegations of opposition parties on this issue amid the Lok Sabha elections, Amit Shah said, ‘His parties should not use electoral bonds. Donations have also been received through mediums. Is that also extortion?Rahul Gandhi should tell people.
And the donations they have received in proportion to the number of MPs are more than what we receive. They have no issues, we have no allegations of corruption. That’s why they are trying to create confusion. They will not succeed.
It is noteworthy that in a historic decision on February 15, the Supreme Court struck down the Electoral Bond Scheme on the grounds that it violates the right to information of the citizens. Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud said the scheme was unconstitutional and arbitrary and could lead to vendettas between political parties and donors.
