Security forces surrounded two terrorists in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar. Security forces have surrounded two terrorists who had entered Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. Jammu and Kashmir Police has tweeted this information.

Jammu and Kashmir Zone Police tweeted, ‘A true tribute to the unwavering bravery of Colonel Manpreet Singh, Major Ashish Dhonak and DSP Humayun Bhat, who sacrificed their lives while leading from the front during this ongoing operation. Our forces are engaged with determination in surrounding two terrorists of Lashkar-e-Taiba including Uzair Khan.

Let us inform that three security force officers including an army colonel were martyred in an encounter with terrorists in Kokernag area of Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.

Colonel Manpreet Singh, Major Ashish Dhonchak, Deputy Superintendent of Jammu and Kashmir Police Humayun Bhat were seriously injured in the encounter and later died, officials said. He said that Bhat died due to excessive bleeding.

Colonel Manpreet Singh, commanding 19 Rashtriya Rifles unit, led his team from the front and attacked the terrorists. However, the terrorists fired at him and he was seriously injured.

Later, a floral tribute ceremony was held for Jammu and Kashmir DSP Humayun Bhat, where Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha paid tribute. Earlier, there was an encounter between terrorists and security forces in Rajouri district, where two terrorists were killed.
