Ancient idol of Lord Vishnu like Ramlala found, archaeologist said – it is mentioned in the scriptures

Raichur. Recently, an ancient idol of Lord Vishnu has been found in the Krishna river in a village in Raichur district of Karnataka, along with this idol, an ancient Shivalinga has also been found. Giving this information, sources said that this idol is noteworthy in view of the fact that the features of this idol are similar to the idol of ‘Ramlala’ recently consecrated in the newly constructed Ram temple of Ayodhya.

Dr. Padmaja Desai, lecturer of ancient history and archeology at Raichur University, told about this Vishnu idol that this Vishnu idol found in the Krishna river basin has many special features.He said that in this the aura around Lord Vishnu depicts ‘Dasavatar’ like Matsya, Kurma, Varaha, Narasimha, Vaman, Ram, Parashuram, Krishna, Buddha and Kalki.

Elaborating on the features of the idol, he said that in this idol Vishnu is in a standing position and has four arms. His two upper hands hold ‘Shankha’ and ‘Chakra’, while his two lower hands (‘Kati Hasta’ and ‘Varda Hasta’) are in a position to grant blessings.

The renowned archaeologist said, this idol resembles Venkateswara as mentioned in the scriptures. However, this idol does not have Garuda, which is commonly found in Vishnu idols.Instead there are two women. He told, ‘Since Lord Vishnu is fond of decoration, this idol of smiling Vishnu has been decorated with garlands and jewellery.
