New Delhi: The bail application of former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in the Delhi Liquor Policy scam case was heard in Rouse Avenue Court on Monday. CBI and ED presented their arguments in Rouse Avenue Court on the bail plea of Manish Sisodia and then the court said that the next hearing of the case will be on April 20.

However, during the hearing, ED and CBI made a series of allegations against Manish Sisodia and opposed the bail. During this, while ED mentioned the meeting held at Oberoi Hotel, CBI said that Manish Sisodia is the mastermind of the liquor scam.

First of all, ED presented its arguments in the court. ED said that if Manish Sisodia’s lawyers are pressing for bail only because of delay in the trial, then they should file an affidavit on this issue. ED said that earlier also we had told the court that a large number of applications were filed and hence it cannot be said that the trial is moving at a snail’s pace.

ED said that the Supreme Court, citing Article 21, has said that if the gravity of the crime is serious then mere delay cannot be the basis for interim bail. Recently, the High Court has also made an important comment regarding not being involved in the investigation.

ED further argued that there was no meeting or discussion to justify increasing the profit margin from 7 percent to 12 percent. There is no logic in this, no calculation and the only logic is that it was not there before, it is not there even now, hence we have done this.

The investigating agency said that the seriousness of the crime is very serious. A public figure created a policy that favored some wholesalers. The Supreme Court arrived at a figure of Rs 338 crore as the proceeds of crime, this was an additional 7% increase in the profits of the wholesalers. ED said that within 3 days a profit margin of 12% was introduced without any meeting or discussion.
