Storm wreaks havoc in Jalpaiguri, more clouds will rain, IMD issues yellow alert

Kolkata: Five people died and more than 100 were injured after a ‘sudden’ storm hit parts of Jalpaiguri district in the northern part of West Bengal. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an ‘Orange Alert’ predicting “heavy to very heavy” rainfall in many northeastern states during the next five days.

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of light to moderate rain with thunderstorms in parts of Alipurduar, Cooch Behar and Jalpaiguri districts of West Bengal. Alipur Meteorological Department has warned that there is a possibility of strong winds at a speed of 50 km per hour.

Let us tell you that the weather patterns are changing again and again in entire Bengal. Sometimes the temperature is falling due to storm and rain. Sometimes the temperature is increasing due to the effect of water vapor coming from the sea. The IMD has predicted scattered rain over Kolkata and southern districts of West Bengal over the next few days, while the maximum temperature over West Purulia, Bankura, West Midnapore and West Burdwan may reach 40 degrees Celsius on both the days.
