By-elections are due on May 10 in Jalandhar Lok Sabha constituency of Punjab and Jharsuguda Assembly constituency of Odisha, the results of which will be declared on May 13 along with the assembly elections in Karnataka.
BJP has fielded Sardar Inder Iqbal Singh for Jalandhar bypoll and Tankadhar Tripathi for Jharsuguda bypoll. Both the names were announced by the Central Election Committee of the party on Wednesday evening.
The Jalandhar Lok Sabha constituency has been lying vacant since January this year after the death of Congress MP Santokh Chowdhary, who had collapsed while walking with Rahul Gandhi during the Bharat Jodo Yatra on January 14. He had died due to a heart attack.
