The mayor of Kathmandu imposed a ban on Indian films, controversy over ‘Adipurush’

New Delhi: Director Om Raut’s film ‘Adipurush’ is being accused of tampering with the facts and basic spirit of ‘Ramayana’. The mayor of Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, had objected to a dialogue in the film.

He had said that an Indian film would be released in Kathmandu only after removing the controversial line from the film. But if this does not happen, the mayor of Kathmandu has taken strict action against all Indian films.

Not only this, the police force has been deployed in the capital of Nepal, so that no theater can screen films made in India.

A day ago, the mayor of Kathmandu had expressed disappointment over the dialogue ‘Janaki Bharat ki beti hai’ from the film ‘Adipurush’ and claimed that Sita Maa was born in Nepal.

The Mayor made a tweet on Sunday and issued a statement claiming that cultural encroachment of Nepal is taking place through ‘Adipurush’. Part of his statement read,

‘If the film is shown as it is, it will cause a deep blow to Nepal’s nationalism, cultural unity and identity, which cannot be compensated.’
