Panaji. A Mercedes car coming at a high speed near Panaji, the capital of Goa, hit several vehicles strongly, in this accident 3 people died.
The police gave this information on Monday. An official of the Mardol police station said that the accident took place at around 7.30 pm on Sunday at Banastarim village on the Ponda-Panaji National Highway, 15 km from Panaji.
The car driver was apparently driving under the influence of alcohol and was later arrested, he said. The speeding car hit three other cars, a motorcycle and a scooter, damaging all six vehicles, the officer said.
A couple riding a scooter and a person riding a motorcycle died on the spot, he said. The Mardol police have arrested the accused car driver, the official said.
Who has been identified as Paresh A. Sinai Savardekar and a case has been registered against him on the charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder, drunken and rash and negligent driving.
