New Delhi:As the winter intensifies, the country grapples with a surging wave of the Coronavirus. India not only faces a worsening situation with COVID-19, but the emergence of its sub-variant, JN.1, has also triggered alarm.
In the past 24 hours, India reported 529 new cases of Covid-19, with 4,093 patients currently under treatment. The Health Ministry disclosed that, during this period, 5 individuals succumbed to the Coronavirus.Recent data from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare reveals that, on Wednesday, 3 people lost their lives to the virus in the country.
According to the ministry’s statistics, Karnataka reported two Covid-19-related deaths, while Gujarat reported one in the last 24 hours. However, Maharashtra later recorded two additional deaths attributed to the coronavirus. Notably, this marks the first instance of reported deaths due to COVID-19 in Maharashtra in the last three months.
Corona virus has now started spreading rapidly in Maharashtra and 87 new cases were reported on Wednesday. This is double as compared to Tuesday, as 37 cases of Covid were recorded on Tuesday. At the same time, if we talk about the new sub-variant JN.1 of Corona, 110 new cases have been registered in the country so far.
For the first time on Wednesday, the first case of Covid sub-variant JN.1 was registered in the country’s capital Delhi.Highest number of cases of JN.1 sub variant have been registered in Gujarat so far. 36 cases have been registered in Gujarat, 34 in Karnataka, 14 in Goa, 9 in Maharashtra, 6 in Kerala, 4 in Rajasthan, 4 in Tamil Nadu, 3 in Telangana and 1 in Delhi.
The Health Ministry said that more cases of Corona and its sub-variants will increase in the coming days. However, it is a matter of relief that the number of patients admitted to hospital due to Corona is still under control.
