Corona creates chaos, breaks record of 7 months, 797 new cases reported in 24 hours

New Delhi:Over the past 24 hours, the country has witnessed a surge with the reporting of 797 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the total number of patients under treatment to 4,091. This marks the highest daily count of coronavirus infections since May 19 of the current year, as disclosed by the Health Ministry on Friday.

India has now seen a significant increase in daily Covid cases, reaching close to 800 in a single day after a span of seven months.As of 8 am on Friday, according to the latest data provided by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, five individuals have succumbed to the effects of the coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours.

The ministry’s report indicates that two Covid-19-related deaths occurred in Kerala, with one each in Maharashtra, Puducherry, and Tamil Nadu during this period.On May 19, 2023, the country recorded 865 new infection cases. The recent surge in infection cases has been attributed to the cold weather and the emergence of a new variant of the coronavirus.

Prior to this recent uptick, daily case numbers had dropped to double digits by December 5.In almost four years from the beginning of the year 2020 till now, more than 4.5 crore people have been infected with Corona virus across the country and more than 5.3 lakh people have died due to it.

According to the website of the Health Ministry, the number of people who have recovered from the infection so far has increased to 4.4 crore. The national recovery rate is 98.81 percent. According to the ministry, 220.67 crore doses have been given so far under the anti-Covid-19 vaccination campaign in the country.
