Cyclone Tej: Cyclonic storm ‘Tej’ can cause devastation! May take violent form on 20th October

New Delhi: The country may have to face the brunt of a cyclonic storm very soon. In fact, a possible cyclonic system has formed over the south-east Arabian Sea and the nearby Lakshadweep area. The Indian Meteorological Department said that a low-pressure area is forming in the Arabian Sea and if it intensifies, it can take the form of a cyclone.

The cyclonic circulation over Lakshadweep area and adjoining southeast Arabian Sea and Kerala coast moved west-northwestwards and remains over southeast Arabian Sea and adjoining Lakshadweep area.

IMD said in a statement that under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to develop over the south-east and adjoining east-central Arabian Sea during the next 48 hours.

Officials said the weather system is likely to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a depression over the central Arabian Sea around October 21. The potential intensity of the cyclone has not been determined by officials.

IMD said that they are closely monitoring the developments. Let us tell you that the warm sea temperature makes the period between October and December favorable for the development of cyclonic circulation in the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea.
