Cyclone Biparjoy wreaks havoc in Gujarat, 22 people injured

Gandhinagar. Cyclonic storm Biparjoy caused massive destruction in the coastal areas of Gujarat on Thursday evening. At least 22 people were injured due to the storm, while electric poles and trees were uprooted.

Apart from this, 23 animals also died and more than 524 trees and electric poles were uprooted due to strong winds at various places in Gujarat, causing power failure in about 940 villages.

As soon as the storm Biparjoy hit the coast, 120 km in the coastal areas of Saurashtra and Kutch of Gujarat. Strong winds blew at the speed of one hour and it rained heavily.

Gujarat Relief Commissioner Alok Singh said that about 22 people have been injured due to Cyclone Biperjoy. There is no news of anyone’s death so far.

23 animals have died, 524 trees and electric poles have also fallen, leaving 940 villages without electricity. According to the India Meteorological Department, the severe cyclonic storm Biparjoy lay centered 30 km north of Naliya in the Saurashtra-Kutch region today.

It is expected to move northeast and weaken by morning of June 16 and by the same evening, heavy rain is expected over South Rajasthan. IMD has issued a red alert for heavy rains in Gujarat and Rajasthan today.
