Cyclone Mocha will bring strong thunderstorms, alert issued in West Bengal

Kolkata. Cyclonic storm ‘Mocha’ is forming in the Bay of Bengal. An alert has been issued regarding this in West Bengal. All the police stations of Kolkata have been ordered to arrange generators.

The directive is part of the standard operating procedure (SOP) prepared by the command center set up at the city police headquarters in Lalbazar for Cyclone Mocha. The SOP has put the disaster management group on high alert.

Due to the effect of cyclonic storm in Bengal, on May 10, winds can blow at a speed of 70-80 kilometers per hour in some places. The Odisha government has alerted 18 coastal and surrounding districts.

New Town officials are preparing teams equipped with more than 100 pumps, sandbags and equipment to clear tree branches from roads in preparation for the cyclone.

Quoting sources from the Meteorological Department, it has been told that there is less chance of rain in Kolkata till Thursday. Apart from this, control rooms have been opened in Kolkata and aspects related to the cyclonic storm are being closely monitored.
