Wisconsin. Ohio police shot dead a man walking with a knife near the Republican National Convention (RNC) on Tuesday. US presidential candidate Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania.
The incident happened just a few days after that, officials said. In a separate incident on Monday, a man wearing a ski mask and carrying an ‘AK-47’ was arrested by Capitol Police officers and Homeland Security Investigations near the RNC.
The Ohio police team present in Wisconsin for the convention recovered two knives from a man who was shot dead just a few blocks from the RNC. Milwaukee Chief Jeffrey Norman said at a news conference that five members of the Columbus, Ohio Police Department shot the man who had knives in both hands.
He refused to obey police orders and attacked an unarmed man before police opened fire. According to the New York Post report, the suspect killed was a homeless man who was mentally disturbed. Witnesses at the scene heard eight gunshots and some said the man was shot in the back as he tried to flee from security forces.
