A cheetah brought from South Africa died in Kuno National Park

Bhopal. One of the 12 cheetahs transferred from South Africa to Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno National Park died on Sunday. This information was given by a senior forest officer.

The official said that the dead cheetah ‘Uday’ was six years old. Significantly, this is the second such incident in KNP in about a month. Earlier, a cheetah named Sasha, who was brought to KNP from Namibia, died on March 27 due to kidney disease.

Madhya Pradesh’s Principal Chief Conservator of Forests JS Chauhan said, ‘During the inspection this morning, a cheetah brought from South Africa had a bent neck and was not raising its head.

After this, the veterinarians treating him alerted the senior officials and he was taken out of the big enclosure for treatment. Unfortunately, this leopard died at four in the evening.

Actually, the country had got the gift of 12 cheetahs, when the second batch of cheetahs was brought to India. These cheetahs were brought to the Gwalior airport by a special C-17 Globemaster aircraft of the Air Force.

Cheetahs were released in the enclosure in the presence of Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh and Union Ministers. At the same time, last year PM Modi released eight cheetahs brought to Namibia in Kuno National Park.
