Delhi-NCR’s climate worsens again, AQI crosses 400 in many areas

New Delhi:The atmospheric conditions in the national capital, Delhi, and the adjoining regions of Noida-Gurugram have once again taken a turn for the worse. Despite a temporary improvement in air quality attributed to recent light showers, pollution levels have surged once more.

At 7 am on Friday, Air Quality Index (AQI) readings indicated severe pollution levels, with figures reaching 412 in Delhi’s Anand Vihar, 405 in Ashok Vihar, 411 in Jahangirpuri, and 395 AQI in Sonia Vihar. Other areas, such as Sri Aurobindo Marg with AQI 361, Sirifort Delhi with AQI 392, and Dwarka Sector-8 with AQI 402, also reported alarming pollution levels.

Similarly, Noida recorded AQI levels of 355 in Sector-116, 342 in Sector-125, 341 in Knowledge Park-III, and 368 in Sector-62. According to the Central Pollution Control Board’s report, several areas in Delhi have registered AQI values falling into the hazardous category.

Notably, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi stood at 258 at 9:05 am on Wednesday, reflecting a significant increase from the 365 recorded at 8 am on Tuesday.Let us tell you that AQI between zero and 50 is ‘good’, between 51 and 100 ‘satisfactory’, between 101 and 200 ‘moderate’, between 201 and 300 ‘bad’, between 301 and 400 ‘very poor’. , between 401 and 450 is considered ‘severe’ and above 450 is considered ‘very serious’. At the same time, the Center canceled the restrictions under Phase-III of GRAP in the entire NCR with immediate effect.
