New Delhi. Due to the changing weather in Delhi-NCR, children have started falling ill. A large number of patients are coming to the pediatric OPD in hospitals with complaints of viral fever and prolonged cough.

Some doctors said that the fluctuating weather trends over the past two weeks may have provided a “conducive environment” for the virus to spread. Many parents told that babies are not able to adapt according to the changing weather.

May is usually the hottest month in Delhi, with the maximum temperature reaching 39.5 °C. Officials have attributed the change of weather to back to back western disturbances, which are causing unseasonal rains in northwest India.

Pediatricians at several hospitals and clinics in Delhi said their OPDs are mostly children, most of whom come with complaints of viral fever and prolonged cough. Some complain of tightness in the chest.

A pediatrician at Rainbow Hospital in South Delhi said that many children in the OPD are coming with complaints of influenza-like symptoms and in many cases the illness has persisted for a long time.
