New Delhi:Tuesday morning brought cold weather and dense fog to Delhi-NCR and its vicinity, as the cold wave tightened its hold on North India. The capital, Delhi, experienced thick fog, leading to reduced visibility, with the minimum temperature dropping to 7 degrees Celsius.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts very dense fog in various regions, including Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Eastern Uttar Pradesh, West Madhya Pradesh, and Odisha. Additionally, the Meteorological Department mentioned the likelihood of moderate fog in isolated areas of West Uttar Pradesh, and light fog in isolated parts of Chandigarh, Bihar, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Tripura on this day.
As of 5:30 am, visibility in Delhi and its adjacent areas was recorded at 500 meters or less, with Palam in Delhi registering 100 meters and Safdarjung at 200 meters. On the Delhi-Meerut Highway in Ghaziabad, visibility ranged from less than 200 to 300 meters, prompting fog warnings to caution travelers.
Amritsar and Patiala in Punjab reported zero visibility, while Ambala in Haryana also experienced zero visibility.The weather forecasting agency, in its statement, indicated that dense to very dense fog conditions are expected to persist in parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh from the 26th to the 28th of December.
Additionally, Rajasthan and North Madhya Pradesh are likely to experience these conditions on the 26th and 27th, with the likelihood of continuation.
