Kolkata:The challenges for the Mamata government in West Bengal appear to be escalating once again, with the Enforcement Directorate (ED) taking action in the Municipal Corporation recruitment scam case. Sujit Bose, a minister in the Mamata government, had his residence raided by the ED, and simultaneous searches are underway at various locations belonging to Mamata Banerjee’s ministers in Kolkata.
The ED team is currently conducting a thorough search inside Sujit Bose’s residence.In connection with the Municipal Corporation recruitment scam, the ED is also conducting raids at the homes of TMC MLAs Tapas Roy and Subodh Chakraborty. It’s noteworthy that these ED actions unfold amidst recent incidents where TMC workers had assaulted ED officials during a raid on the residence of the young TMC leader Shaikh in Sandeshkhali.
The ED had filed a complaint at the Najat police station regarding the attack on its personnel, while the TMC leader’s family and the state police have also filed separate complaints against the central investigation agency.
Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers in West Bengal on Thursday protested in North 24 Parganas over the alleged failure of the police to arrest Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Shahjahan Sheikh in the case of attack on Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials. Protested near Najat police station.
