Big blow to KCR government in Telangana, EC withdrew permission for Rythu Bandhu scheme

Hyderabad: Before the assembly elections to be held in Telangana on November 30, the Election Commission has decided to withdraw the permission to continue the Rythu Bandhu scheme of the state government. The Election Commission has said in its new order that as long as the election code of conduct remains in force in the state, no financial assistance of any kind will be given under the scheme.

After the Rythu Bandhu scheme was approved by the Election Commission, the Congress party started protesting.The KCR government of Telangana had sought approval from the Election Commission to distribute subsidy money in the bank accounts of farmers of the state under the Rythu Bandhu scheme from November 24. The Election Commission had also approved this.

But other parties including Congress started opposing. The Congress party had complained to the Election Commission and argued that voters could be influenced by this. Due to this, the Election Commission had to withdraw the approval given to the KCR government.

Let us tell you that under the Rythu Bandhu Scheme, the Telangana government transfers money at the rate of Rs 5000 per acre to the bank account of every farmer in the state. This amount is transferred to the farmers twice a year. In this way, Rs 10,000 are deposited in the farmers’ accounts in a year.

Under this scheme, till now the Telangana government has transferred Rs 70 thousand crores to the accounts of the farmers of the state and about 60 lakh farmers have benefited from it.
