Goa: IPS officer A. Coan accused of molesting woman, removed from post

Panaji. IPS officer posted in Goa, Officer A. Koan has been accused of molesting a woman in a club, after which he has been removed from the post of Deputy Inspector General.

A. Koan has been ordered to appear before the Director General of Police of the state. Officials gave this information on Thursday. Goa DGP Jaspas Singh told reporters on Wednesday that he has sent a detailed report to the state government.

On Wednesday evening, Goa government’s Under Secretary Nathin Araujo ordered Koan to appear before the DGP with immediate effect. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has assured that “strict action” will be taken against the accused IPS officer.

The officer is accused of molesting a woman at a club in the state on Monday night. Sawant said in the state assembly on Wednesday after the matter was raised by Goa Forward Party (GFP) MLA Vijay Sardesai. That such behavior will not be tolerated.

Without naming the officer, Sardesai told the House that a woman had thrashed an IPS officer at a night club when he tried to molest her.
