Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) on Saturday, killed a dreaded criminal an encounter in Gonda. On arriving at a hospital, doctors declared him dead.
Vijay Singh, alias Bijji alias Bijendra, a resident of Kharagpur police station, Kotwali Akbarpur, has been named as the perpetrator and had a bounty of Rs 50,000 on him.
Vijay also served as a contractual killer with various gangs in India, as well as running extortion rackets.
According to the STF, his criminal records were being rummaged. When the STF learned of Vijay’s aspiration, the additional director general of police (law and order), Prashant Kumar, said he was planning another murder.The team sat in a trap, after the STF was tipped off about his movement. The suspect was caught on the Paraspur-Nawabganj road, under the Paraspur police station.
“The team laid a trap, and the accused was cornered on Paraspur-Nawabganj road under Paraspur police station. He was asked to surrender but opened fire on the STF team and suffered a gunshot in reply to fire by the police team. He was later taken to a government hospital and declared dead,” said Kumar.
The STF officials said Vijay had over 18 cases against his name with five of murder, others included that of loot, robbery and dacoity.
“Vijay also worked as a contractual killer with different gangs across India and also ran extortion rackets. His criminal records were being rummaged,” the STF added.
