New Delhi. Former Chief Minister of Jharkhand Hemant Soren has received a big blow from the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has rejected Soren’s petition seeking interim bail. Let us tell you that Soren had sought interim bail for the election campaign. At the same time, former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia also got a shock from the Delhi High Court yesterday i.e. on Tuesday.

The court had rejected his bail plea for the second time. While hearing the application of Hemant Soren, the Supreme Court expressed displeasure that the petitioner did not present all the facts before the court. The Supreme Court questioned that when Soren had approached the Supreme Court, why was the court not informed that the bail application was pending before the Special Court and the lower court had already taken cognizance of the charge sheet.

When the bench of Justice Dipankar Dutta and Justice Satish Chandra Sharma was hearing Soren’s interim bail plea, the ED filed the affidavit. ED said in this that the right to campaign for elections is neither a fundamental right, nor a constitutional right, nor a legal right. During the first day’s hearing, Soren’s lawyer Sibal said that Soren has never been in possession of the land in question.

On behalf of ED, ASG SV Raju said that Soren cannot demand bail citing the relief given to Kejriwal. The facts are different in both the cases. Soren was arrested before the elections. Then in this case, the court has taken cognizance of the charge sheet against Soren, that is, the lower court had prima facie accepted the case against him. He did not challenge this order anywhere. Not only this, Soren’s bail application has also been rejected.
