Ranchi: The petition of former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, who was sent to jail in the alleged land scam case, will be heard in the Supreme Court today, in which he has challenged the arrest of ED. Besides, the verdict on his remand can also be pronounced today in the special ED court.
Last Thursday, ED, while presenting Hemant Soren, had sought 10 days’ remand from the court, after which the court had reserved its decision. Apart from this, Champai Soren can take oath as CM today regarding the formation of government in Jharkhand.
The Governor has given 10 days time to Champai Soren to prove his majority. On Thursday evening, Champai Soren met the Governor and claimed to form the government. Letters of support from the alliance MLAs were also handed over, in which the name of Hemant Soren’s sister-in-law Sita Soren was missing.
Champai Soren claims that he has the support of 47 MLAs. Before the ED’s arrest, Hemant Soren had submitted his resignation to the Governor, after which Champai Soren’s name was put forward for the post of CM.
Champai Soren is considered very close to Hemant Soren. Amidst all this, a lot of political drama took place on Thursday. Actually, earlier the MLAs of Grand Alliance were preparing to go from Ranchi to Hyderabad. These people had also boarded a chartered plane at Ranchi Airport, but due to bad weather the plane could not take off.
Alliance leaders said that there was a need to send the MLAs to Hyderabad so that attempts to poach them by BJP could be stopped.
