Dhaka: A horrific road accident has taken place in Nazir Bazar of Dakshin Surma Upazila of Bangladesh. At least 13 people have died in a collision between a truck and a pickup van. 10 people have also been injured in this accident. Truck and pickup van collided on Sylhet-Dhaka highway.
Police has given information about this accident. Police said that nine of the dead have been identified, while the identity of the four dead is yet to be ascertained. Police said that the dead were Harish Miya (50), Sourav (25), Sadhu Miya (40), Tayif Noor (45), Sagar (18), Rashid Miya (40), Dulal Miya (55), Badsha Miya (45). ) and Wahid Ali (40). All these people were residents of Sunamganj district. At the same time, the four dead have not been identified.
Police said that the accident took place at around 5.30 am. MD Samasuddoha, in-charge of Dakshin Surma police, said a sand-laden truck rammed a pickup van carrying laborers in Qutubpur area. 11 people died in this collision, while 10 others were injured. There were more than 20 laborers in the van and it was going towards Tajpur.
According to reports, after the accident, the injured were taken to Sylhet Osmani Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared two of them brought dead. Vehicular movement remained suspended on the Sylhet-Dhaka highway for three hours following the accident. There was a long jam on the highway after the accident. However, thanks to the police, the movement of vehicles resumed at around eight in the morning.
