IAS Sewali Devi Sharma arrested in 105 crore scam case in Assam

Jaipur. Suspended IAS Sewali Devi Sharma and her son-in-law Ajitpal Singh, who are absconding in a Rs 105 crore government scam in Assam, have been arrested by the Assam Police from Ajmer district of Rajasthan.

To avoid arrest, Sewali Sharma, a suspended Indian Administrative Service officer, along with her son-in-law and 3 people, including her domestic help, was staying at Hotel Cross Lane in Kotwali area of Ajmer. Assam Police has caught them with the cooperation of Ajmer Police.

After that the Assam Police produced the accused in Ajmer court and took transit remand. Later she left for Assam with him. It is being told that all three had reached Ajmer two days back.

The Assam Police team also reached Ajmer on Sunday night after hearing about his arrival in Ajmer. After that, with the help of Kotwali police in Ajmer, they were caught along with the suspended IAS and his son-in-law by raiding Hotel Cross Lane.

According to the information, IAS Sewali Devi Sharma is accused that she was posted as the executive of SCERT from the year 2017 to 2020. During her tenure, IAS Sewali Devi Sharma opened 5 bank accounts without the permission of the government.

After that, with the help of his son-in-law Ajitpal Singh, a contractor by profession, he withdrew Rs 105 crore from the bank account without issuing any work order. When this scam came to light, the Assam government suspended IAS Sewali Devi Sharma.

A case was registered regarding this scam in Vigilance police station in Kamrup district of Assam. After that, Sevali Devi Sharma had reached Ajmer while absconding for fear of arrest. But the Assam Police, which was tracking Sewali Sharma, caught her.
