New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department has issued orange and yellow alerts for different parts of the country in view of the rains due to monsoon. IMD scientist Soma Sen said, “The monsoon is currently active and has advanced rapidly during the last 4-5 days.
Except for some parts of northwest India, the monsoon has covered almost the entire country. Entire Gujarat and South- Monsoon has covered East Rajasthan and it is expected to cover South Punjab, Haryana and remaining parts of Rajasthan in next two days.
In Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh, incessant rains have led to a flood-like situation, throwing normal life out of gear. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said rain is likely in Himachal Pradesh for the next five days with heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places.
Shimla’s IMD scientist Sandeep Kumar Sharma said, “There is a possibility of rain for the next 5 days. An alert for heavy rain has been issued at some places in the state.”
Rahul, a tourist from Punjab, said, “It is raining heavily and we are stuck inside the hotel rooms. We cannot go out because of the rain.”
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also issued an orange alert for heavy rain in Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Nashik, Pune and Satara. Besides this, it rained heavily in parts of Delhi on Tuesday. The rain brought respite to the common people from the scorching heat.
