Jaipur.Following Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, the BJP has officially declared its Chief Ministerial candidate for Rajasthan. Bhajan Lal Sharma has been chosen as the new Chief Minister of Rajasthan, a decision ratified during the legislative party meeting held in Jaipur. Bhajan Lal Sharma secured unanimous support and was elected as the leader of the legislative party in the presence of observers.
Hailing from Bharatpur, Bhajan Lal Sharma, the MLA from Sanganer, has a longstanding association with the BJP, having served as the state general secretary. Despite being a first-time contestant, Sharma contested from the secure constituency of Sanganer in Jaipur, a move that involved replacing the incumbent MLA, Ashok Lahoti.
Sanganer, considered a BJP stronghold, witnessed Bhajan Lal Sharma’s victory over Congress candidate Pushpendra Bhardwaj by a margin of 48,081 votes.The BJP legislature party meeting started at 4 pm on Tuesday evening. The new Chief Minister of Rajasthan was elected in the meeting. BJP’s central observer, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and two co-observers Vinod Tawde and Saroj Pandey were present in the meeting.
Earlier, Union Minister Rajnath Singh along with Prahlad Joshi and two co-observers Vinod Tawde and Saroj Pandey had reached Jaipur by a special plane. Party state president CP Joshi and former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje welcomed him at the airport.
