Jammu Kashmir: Infiltration attempt failed in Kupwara, security forces killed a terrorist

Jammu and Kashmir: An infiltration attempt on the Line of Control in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district has been foiled. It is being told that the security forces have killed an unknown intruder in Karnah of Tangdhar sector of the district. A search operation is being conducted in the area by the security forces.

Earlier on Thursday, security forces arrested an aide of terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba in Sopore of Kashmir Valley. During this time arms and ammunition have been recovered from his possession. The helper has been identified as Umar Bashir Bhat, a resident of Manj Sir, Sopore.

According to police sources, acting on a tip-off regarding the helper, the police along with 52 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) of the army and 177 battalion of the CRPF launched a joint search operation near railway station Peth Seer. A suspect was caught during this. One hand grenade, one pistol, one pistol magazine, 15 pistol rounds and one mobile phone with SIM card have been recovered from his possession. A case has been registered against him in Tarju police station and investigation has been started.
