Srinagar:The anti-terror operation in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir entered its second day on Friday. Security forces intensified the cordon to prevent terrorists from escaping, resulting in the elimination of three members of Lashkar-e-Taiba.
The gunfire erupted in the early hours of Friday, breaking an overnight lull in Samno of Nehama area in Kulgam.Authorities reported that the security forces had surrounded Nehama village on Thursday upon receiving intelligence about terrorist presence. What began as a search operation turned into a confrontation when the terrorists opened fire.
The security forces encircled the identified location of the terrorists from all directions.In a separate incident last Wednesday, security forces thwarted an infiltration attempt, eliminating two unidentified terrorists near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
Alert soldiers detected movement near the LOC, triggering an exchange of fire when the infiltrators were challenged. As of the latest update, two terrorists have been neutralized, and the operation is ongoing.
