Jamtara. At least two people died after being hit by a train in Jamtara district of Jharkhand on Wednesday night. Police gave this information. Jamtara Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Mujibur Rehman said that the accident occurred near Kaljharia area of Jamtara district.
Rahman said, “So far the bodies of two people have been recovered. “Search operations are ongoing and the death toll is expected to increase.” According to railway officials, the incident occurred at around 7 pm, in which two people died.
Eastern Railway said in a statement, “Train No. 12254 (Anga Express) passing between Vidyasagar-Kasitar at 7 pm in Asansol division of ER (Eastern Railway) stopped due to ‘chain pulling’. “After this, at 7:07 pm, two people walking on the tracks were hit by a MEMU train, the accident site being at least two kilometers away from where the train had stopped.”
It said that a three-member committee has been formed to investigate the matter.Initially it was told that after receiving information about the fire in the Ang Express train, the passengers on board started jumping down in panic. Meanwhile, the Jhajha-Asansol passenger train coming from the front passed over the passengers who had fallen on the tracks.
Ang Express has also been stopped.It was also being told that Bangalore-Yesvantpur Express was passing in the down line. Meanwhile, the dust of the ballast dumped on the side of the line was flying, but seeing the dust, the driver realized that the train was on fire and smoke was coming out, due to which the passengers also got off the train as soon as it was stopped. Meanwhile, many passengers died after being hit by an EMU train going on the up line.
