Jodhpur. A huge uproar broke out on Friday night in the Sursagar police station area of Suryanagari Jodhpur over a minor issue. Violence broke out there when wo parties came face to face. The angry mob set a shop and a tractor on fire. Seeing the deteriorating situation in the city, the police administration was left helpless.
A heavy police force was deployed there to control the angry mob. The situation deteriorated so much that the police had to fire tear gas shells. The police have detained about a dozen people in this case of violence. A heavy police force is deployed in the area. At present, peace prevails there.
According to the police, the uproar took place in Ambon Ka Bas Vyapariyon Ka Mohalla at around 9:30 pm on Friday night. The reason behind this uproar was a minor dispute that took place on Thursday. On Thursday, there was an altercation between two minors over the issue of removing the door in a shop located near Idgah. After that, one of the youths was hit on the head with some iron object.
But at that time people intervened and pacified the matter.On Friday, the matter started to escalate during the day. Then the local residents and the police intervened and controlled it. But by night the matter heated up. People from both sides came face to face and the situation worsened there. A huge crowd gathered there in no time.
First there was stone pelting between the two sides and then glass bottles were thrown there. This further inflamed the riot. The angry crowd set a shop and a tractor on fire. Other vehicles parked there were vandalized.This created chaos and an atmosphere of fear there. When the local police station could not handle the situation, a heavy police force was called there.
The Commissionerate’s senior officials reached the spot. Even then, when the matter did not calm down, the RAC was called. To control the crowd, the police fired tear gas shells. This caused a stampede there. Later the police started arresting the miscreants. The police have detained about a dozen people in this case. The SHO of Housing Board police station has also been injured in the stone pelting.
However, both the parties had filed cases against each other on Thursday regarding this entire dispute. After that, the police had assured appropriate action. Before the police could take any action, there was chaos. At present, a heavy police force is deployed on the spot. Senior officials of police and administration are keeping an eye on every activity in the riot-affected area.
