The Karnataka assembly elections can be clearly divided into two phases, with one showing dominance of the Congress and the other of the BJP.

The first phase was before April 26 when the Congress clearly had an edge on the basis of its strong ‘local’ campaign – it focused on the ‘40% commission’ charge and the ‘five guarantees’ given to the public against the BJP government Did.

Congress went door-to-door for two months till April to inform people about its ‘guarantee card’, promising cash assistance to women and the unemployed, 200 units of free electricity, 10 kg rice per family and free bus travel for women Was.

The second phase was in the last fortnight, where three ‘lapses’ by the Congress gave the BJP a chance to enter the electoral fray once again. During this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also tried to set the narrative in favor of BJP through public meetings and mega road shows.

The third was on May 7, when the party’s official Twitter handle attributed the ‘sovereignty’ remark to senior leader Sonia Gandhi, which she had never said at her election rally.
