UGC released a list of 20 fake universities operating illegally across the country

Lucknow. The UGC on Wednesday released a list of 20 fake universities operating illegally across the country and said that their degrees will not be valid. Out of these 20 fake universities, four are from Uttar Pradesh.

According to the UGC, 20 universities are being run in a fraudulent manner across the country, out of which four are in the four major metros of Uttar Pradesh. Apart from the capital Lucknow, universities are being run in a fake manner in Kanpur, Aligarh and Prayagraj.

UGC has approved Uttar Pradesh Gandhi Vidyapeeth, Prayag, Allahabad (Prayagraj), National University of Electro Complex Homeopathy, Kanpur, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose University (Open University), Achaltal, Aligarh and Indian Council of Education, Bharat Bhawan, Matiyari, Chinhat, Faizabad Road. Lucknow has been termed as fake.

UGC has issued a statement saying that many institutes are awarding degrees contrary to the provisions of the UGC Act. The degree awarded by such universities will neither be recognized nor valid for the purpose of higher education or employment.
