This means that now the Lok Sabha membership of Rahul Gandhi will be restored. However, the Supreme Court said that Rahul Gandhi’s remarks were not in good taste. One should be careful on this in public life.
Let us tell you that the Gujarat High Court had rejected the petition requesting to stay the conviction of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the defamation case related to ‘Modi surname’, after which Rahul Gandhi had moved the Supreme Court.
Actually, in the ‘Modi’ surname comment case, the Supreme Court says that no reason has been given by the lower court judge to impose maximum punishment, there is a need to stay the order of conviction till the final verdict.
The Supreme Court said that the lower court should have given the reason for awarding the maximum sentence of two years in its order, the Gujarat High Court also did not consider this aspect.
The Supreme Court, while giving relief to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, said that the effects of the trial court’s order are widespread. This affected not only Rahul Gandhi’s right to continue in public life, but also the right of the voters who elected him.
