The Indian Meteorological Department claims that the monsoon will knock simultaneously in Mumbai and the capital Delhi, located on the western edge of the country.

In view of the possibility of reaching it by June 26, an orange alert has been issued in Delhi. Normally it reaches Kerala by June 1, Mumbai by June 11 and Delhi by June 27. According to IMD’s senior scientist DS Pai, it has been affected due to Cyclone Biparjay in the past. According to IMD, after a slow start, the monsoon is now moving at a fast pace.

Monsoon is running behind schedule by 10-12 days over Central India. It has reached many areas including parts of Maharashtra, entire Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Northeast India, Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar. Due to the arrival of Southwest Monsoon, East Uttar Pradesh received good rainfall on Saturday.

It is likely to reach West Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir as well as Delhi in the next two days. Monsoon reached Madhya Pradesh via Chhattisgarh on Saturday.

There is a possibility of rain with thunder and lightning in the districts of Sagar, Narmadapuram, Shahdol, Rewa, Bhopal, Ujjain, Indore and Jabalpur divisions on Sunday. Intermittent rain may continue for five days. Meanwhile, heavy rain warning has also been issued in Alirajpur, Jhabua and Sagar districts.

With the arrival of monsoon in Eastern Uttar Pradesh, a spate of deaths due to heavy rains and lightning has also started. On Saturday, ten people died due to lightning in Sonbhadra, Ghazipur, Varanasi, Jaunpur, while half a dozen people got scorched. Maximum four deaths each have occurred in Sonbhadra and Ghazipur.
