Mumbai. Maratha reservation controversy has once again created a stir in Maharashtra. Two MPs and one MLA of the Eknath Shinde government in Maharashtra tendered their resignation on Tuesday. Here, protests have turned violent in some areas.
In Antarwali-Sarti, a small village in Jalna district of Marathwada, quota activist Manoj Jarange-Patil is continuing his fast and is not ready to give more time to the Eknath Shinde government on his demand of “complete reservation for Marathas”.
Patil clearly told Shinde in the phone conversation that his people would not accept reservation “half-heartedly”. Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) MP from Hingoli Hemant Patil was the first person to resign on the demand of quota.
Recently, another MP from Nashik in the state assembly, Hemant Godse, and MLA from Vaijapur, Ramesh Bornare, have also resigned in the interest of Marathas. The two other MLAs who resigned over this issue are Suresh Warpudkar of Congress from Parbhani and Laxman Pawar of BJP from Gevrai.
