Agartala. A big news is coming out from Tripura. Union Minister of State Pratima Bhowmik’s name is at the forefront of the race for the new CM of Tripura. Pratima Bhowmik can be seen as the first woman CM of Tripura.
BJP has not yet announced its face for the post of Chief Minister. But among the names that are being discussed the most in the corridors of politics, one name is that of Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Pratima Bhowmik.
She was clad in a simple saree and ‘hawai chappal’ after her record-breaking victory from the Dhanpur seat in the recently held state assembly elections. He said that my victory is the victory of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his model of development and progress.
Regarding becoming the first woman Chief Minister of Tripura, Bhowmick said that ‘I am a dedicated party worker. It is only because of the party that I am sitting in front of you. I fought the election at the behest of the party and the party is my mother. So one should not guess anything.
Whatever the party will say. I will do that. Bhowmik will take oath as a Union minister in July 2021, two years after being elected as an MP in 2019 on a BJP ticket. In Tripura, 8 out of 12 women candidates have won the election and among them Pratima Bhowmik is at the top.
Significantly, the swearing-in ceremony of the Chief Minister of Tripura will take place on March 8. PM Narendra Modi will also be present on that occasion. It is a coincidence that the day of the oath ceremony is International Women’s Day.
