Speaking to reporters in Mohali, Daljit Cheema said, “The inauguration of the new parliament building is a matter of pride for the country, so we have decided that the Shiromani Akali Dal will attend the inauguration ceremony on May 28.” We do not agree with the issues raised by the opposition parties.

19 opposition parties, including the Congress, have announced a collective boycott of the inauguration ceremony of the new Parliament building, alleging that the spirit of democracy has been removed from Parliament during the tenure of this government.

On the other hand, terming this move of the opposition as unfortunate, the government said that the opposition parties should reconsider their decision.
