IPS Nina Singh created history by becoming the first woman chief of CISF

New Delhi:Neena Singh, an IPS officer, has been appointed as the head of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). Notably, Neena Singh has made history as the first woman in the country to assume this role as the chief of CISF. Presently serving as the Special Director General of CISF, her elevation marks a significant milestone.

The CISF plays a crucial role in ensuring the security of airports, Delhi Metro, government structures, and strategic installations throughout the nation.Neena Singh, a 1989 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer initially commissioned into the Manipur cadre, subsequently transitioned to the Rajasthan cadre.

Following the retirement of Shilvardhan Singh on August 31 this year, Neena Singh assumed the additional charge of CISF Director General. As per an order from the Personnel Ministry, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has sanctioned Neena Singh’s appointment as the Director General of CISF until July 31, 2024, which is the date of her superannuation.

In fact, Neena Singh was the first woman IPS officer allotted to the Rajasthan cadre, where she held many important posts across the state. He also served as Joint Director in the CBI during 2013–18, where he investigated several high-profile cases with national and international implications. She is working in CISF since 2021. She is working continuously in CISF first as ADG and then as Special DG and as DG in-charge from 31 August 2023.
