Odisha: The death toll in train accident in Balasore increased to 233, more than 900 injured

New Delhi. The death toll in Balasore, Odisha in the horrific train accident on Friday evening has increased to 233 and around 900 passengers have been injured.

Confirming this, Odisha Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena said in a tweet that the death toll in the train accident is increasing.

In this terrible accident yesterday, 10 to 12 coaches of Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express derailed in Balasore, Odisha and the coaches fell on the opposite track.

On the second track, another train going from Yashwantpur to Howrah crashed and collided with the coaches of the Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express who fell on the track.

3 to 4 coaches of this train derailed. Rescuers are engaged in saving the trapped people after two passengers in Balasore and a freight train crashed.

Meanwhile, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has reached Balasore. He said that orders have been given for a high level inquiry into this train accident. It is important to know what is the real reason for such a big accident.

The accident is unfortunate and the Ministry of Railways started rescue operations soon after receiving information about the incident. Teams of NDRF, Odraf and Fire Department are present on the spot for relief and rescue.

The help of Air Force is also being taken. The Railway Minister said that it is important to know what is the real reason for such a big accident.
