New Delhi. Union Minister Piyush Goyal on Sunday said the opposition’s allegation of electronic voting machine (EVM) tampering against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP is an excuse to prepare the ground to hide the defeat of senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha elections. .
In an exclusive interview with Rahul Joshi, Editor-in-Chief, Network18 Group, Goyal explained how the Gandhi family said the BJP and the Prime Minister would not be able to win the elections without the ED, CBI and electronic voting machines. He said that Congress and the opposition ‘India’ alliance know that they will lose the elections and that is why they are creating a ‘silly story’ to save Rahul and the Gandhi-Nehru family.
He said, “…this is a very foolish statement. They already know that they are going to lose, so now they are preparing the ground for a story to hide that it is Rahul Gandhi’s defeat. Therefore they will blame EVMs. Then they can blame Sharad Pawar or even Uddhav Thackeray. They only want to save Rahul Gandhi and the Gandhi-Nehru family.”
The Union Commerce Minister, who is making his Lok Sabha election debut as the BJP candidate from the Mumbai North constituency, said if there was any glitch in the EVMs, the Congress-led governments in Karnataka and Telangana should resign immediately. It should be acknowledged that the assembly election results obtained from EVMs are wrong.
