Islamabad. In seven different cases registered against former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan, he was granted interim bail on Monday. A division bench of Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb heard the bail petitions.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf President Imran Khan demanded interim bail in seven cases registered against him at Golra, Bara Kahu, Ramna, Khanna and CTD police stations. Advocate Salman Safdar, who filed the petitions on behalf of Imran Khan, said that if the former prime minister is arrested, he will suffer ‘irreparable loss’.
According to the petition, “being the head of the largest political party, there is an apprehension that if the petitioner is not granted pre-arrest bail, his political rivals and opponents will succeed in their nefarious designs.” The court observed. After listening to the arguments of the parties, Imran Khan was given interim bail.
A video posted on PTI’s official Twitter handle showed Khan entering the court premises. The Islamabad police was deployed in the security of his bullet-proof vehicle. Khan has 143 cases registered against him, most of which are related to terrorism charges.
