Parliament Winter Session 2023: The winter session of Parliament is going to start from today. Buoyed by its victory in the assembly elections of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan in the Hindi belt, BJP will try to corner the entire opposition including Congress in the winter session of Parliament starting from today.
During this session of Parliament, there may be an uproar in the Lok Sabha when the report of the Ethics Committee of the House will be presented. In which it has been recommended to expel Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra on charges of ‘asking questions after taking bribe’.
Leaders of the opposition alliance ‘India’ will meet this morning to re-formulate their strategies to take on the PM Narendra Modi-led BJP inside the Parliament and in the electoral arena.
When asked about the winter session, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said that if the opposition disrupts Parliament, it will have to face even worse electoral consequences. The government has presented a heavy legislative agenda for the 15 meetings of the winter session. Which includes major bills to replace the colonial era criminal laws and a bill to provide a framework for the appointment of election commissioners.
The report of the Ethics Committee of the Lok Sabha recommending the expulsion of Moitra from the Lower House on the complaint related to ‘taking money for asking questions’ in Parliament is also listed to be tabled in the House on Monday, the first day of the session.
In the all-party meeting chaired by Defense Minister and Deputy Leader in Lok Sabha Rajnath Singh on Saturday, Trinamool Congress leaders had demanded a discussion on the Ethics Committee report in the Lok Sabha before taking any decision to expel Moitra from the House.
