New Delhi: India’s most wanted Pakistani terrorist Shahid Latif was shot dead today by unknown assailants in Sialkot, Pakistan. Terrorist Latif was the mastermind of the Pathankot attack.
Latif’s name was included in the most wanted list of the Indian investigation agency NIA. Terrorist Shahid Latif had connections with many terrorists associated with Jammu and Kashmir.
It had carried out many major terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir in collaboration with different terrorist organizations. Shahid was originally a resident of Gujranwala in Punjab province of Pakistan.
He was associated with Jaish-e-Mohammed. He was the commander of Sialkot sector, who was involved in monitoring the launch of terrorists into India and planning terrorist attacks.
He was arrested on 12 November 1994 and remained in Indian jail for about 16 years. Then in the year 2010 he was deported through Wagah. Shahid Latif was the mastermind of the attack that took place on January 2 in Pathankot, Punjab in 2016.
Apart from this, Shahid was also an accused in the case of hijacking an Indian Airlines plane. Terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed had attacked the airbase located in Pathankot.
