New Delhi: Suspense remains in Congress regarding two high profile seats of UP, Rae Bareli and Amethi. However, sources have informed that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will contest the Lok Sabha elections from Rae Bareli seat, while his close aide KL Sharma will be fielded from Amethi.

Sources say that Rahul Gandhi will file his nomination from Rae Bareli seat today and Congress can make its official announcement any time.Earlier there was news that Priyanka can contest elections from Amethi, but sources have clarified that Congress can make KL Sharma its candidate from Amethi, while Rahul Gandhi will contest elections from Rae Bareli.

Let us tell you that Sonia Gandhi represented Rae Bareli constituency from 2004 to 2024. However, she has now been elected to the Rajya Sabha. Rae Bareli has been the traditional constituency of Rahul Gandhi’s mother Sonia Gandhi.Amethi and Rae Bareli are considered traditional areas of the Gandhi-Nehru family as members of this family have represented these seats for many decades.

However, the Congress Party has not yet formally announced its candidates for these two constituencies in Uttar Pradesh. When asked in this regard, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh only said that the last date for filing nomination papers is till 3 pm on May 3.

Sources said that the Congress Party has started preparations to file nomination papers on these two seats of Uttar Pradesh. He told that Rahul Gandhi is expected to contest elections from Rae Bareli. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday declared Dinesh Pratap Singh as its candidate from Rae Bareli. He lost to Sonia Gandhi in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
